October exports reach second-highest monthly volume in history
Brazilian chicken exports have achieved remarkable results in October, marking the second-best monthly performance in the sector's history, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). A total of 501,300 tonnes of chicken meat were exported, representing an 8.2% increase compared to the same month last year.
Historical Context
The cumulative export volume from January to October reached 4.378 million tonnes, only 0.1% less than the previous year. This performance is the strongest since March 2023, when the sector recorded its highest monthly export volume. Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, noted that October's results have nearly closed the gap between this year's and last year's volumes, suggesting a potential growth in exports for 2025.
Market Implications
Despite the impressive volume, the revenue from October exports was $865.4 million (EUR 747.8), a 4.3% decrease from the same month in 2024. The total revenue for the year so far is $8.031 billion (EUR 6.940), which is 1.8% less than the previous year. Key markets for Brazilian chicken include South Africa, which imported 53,700 tonnes in October, a 126.9% increase from the previous year. Other significant importers are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and Japan.
Regional Export Leaders
The Brazilian state of Paraná continues to lead in chicken exports, shipping 205,100 tonnes in October, a 7.9% increase from last year. Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Goiás also showed notable growth in their export volumes.
Looking Ahead
The reopening of the Chinese market is expected to positively impact the sector's performance in the final months of the year.
The return of China is likely to significantly and positively influence the sector's results.
